Tanya Kuret-Coetzer loves her work as a tutor

Tanya is one of the few persons at ChangeNetSA who has experienced most aspects of the organisation. She joined as a tutor, then managed marketing for a while. She was also a resident at New Beginnings for some months. In Tanya’s own words:

I joined the Bethlehem Tutor Centre in 2022, after moving to Kestell, Eastern Free State just two months prior from Lydenburg, Mpumalanga.

I have teaching experience, having lived in South Korea for four years teaching English and Business Skills. I also taught Chinese and Korean adults for a further two years in South Africa.

Teaching at Bethlehem Tutor Centre however was a completely different and new experience for me. Being introduced to an array of primary school children in different grades, from different backgrounds, on the spectrum, different ages, different emotional needs and more, all in one class, certainly jerked me out of my comfort zone!

It challenged me mentally and emotionally. Every child is different, unique, special and created for a purpose. I came to care about and love every one of my learners.

Being part of the BTC team and Anita and Justice Scott’s vision, not only for BTC, but for ChangeNetSA and the whole community, I can say that it gave me newfound purpose.

I was very proud to be included in this team and given the opportunity to add value where I can and try and make a difference. I am filled with a deep gratitude towards Justice and Anita. Two more selfless people I have never met…”

Tanya is still with ChangeNetSA, again as a tutor, doing what she loves – giving of herself and her knowledge to help kids who struggle with the demands of growing up with different kinds of learning challenges.
